BLUE: The Holistic Solution for Nightmares, Stammering and Bedwetting

We all want our children to be healthy and happy. All too often though, our little ones suffer with issues like nightmares, stammering and bedwetting, and as parents we feel powerless to help.

However, with a little bit of know-how you can make a difference. In this article, I will show you simple, effective steps you can take to help clear the cause of these issues and heal your child.

Clear the Root

If you want to heal your child, you need to get to the root of the problem. The root of most children’s difficulties is their inability to communicate and express themselves. If they cannot explain to you what they are thinking and feeling, they will not feel understood and validated. If they do not feel understood, they will not feel secure. In some children, this underlying lack of security will trigger all sorts of fears. In others, it leads to profound frustration, which in turn can cause behavioural problems.

So, the key to all of this is to heal their block to communication and expression. If you can sort this out, everything else will fall into place. While you cannot make your child more mature, or increase their vocabulary, you can unblock the communication energy centre at the throat. Doing this will allow that area of development to blossom naturally.

Blue Cuddles are the Key

The colour which resonates with the throat energy centre or Chakra is blue. This colour has the effect of opening and unblocking the throat energy, and making communication feel easy and natural. This is what you need to do:

  1. Get yourself a warm, bright blue (not sky blue) blanket or shawl. Wrap your child up in the blanket and cuddle them. At the same time, play a game with your child of breathing in the blue colour. This combines the healing colour with your love and comfort; a very potent healing combination! Do this once a day or more often if your child is distressed.
  2. Get a piece of Aquamarine crystal. Hold it, and focus your intention for your child’s healing and self-expression into the stone. Place it under your child’s mattress, making sure they cannot reach it and accidentally swallow it.
  3. Use Bach Flower remedies: Rescue Remedy, Aspen and Mimulus. Take four drops of each remedy and add to a little boiling water; this allows the alcohol to evaporate. After a couple of minutes, dilute the mixture with more water to approximately 30ml and keep in the fridge. Kept cold, the remedy will last for four weeks. Give your child four drops four times a day. This combination will help with their stress, fears and anxiety, and will support the colour healing. (Bach Flower remedies are available from any health-food store and are safe for everyone.)

The combination of the blue colour energy and the Bach Flower remedies will make your child feel less worried and anxious, safer and more confident that they can express themselves. This makes them feel much more secure on a deep level. When your child begins to feel truly safe, you will see them relax and start to be at ease with themselves. I first used these techniques with my own son.  He had been suffering from severe night terrors, and following this, he began to stammer. We had even taken it as far as getting him assessed by a speech therapist. When I used these simple techniques, his nightmares and stammering just evaporated over a period of a few weeks. Not only did he feel much happier, but I became a lot less stressed too.

Flower Remedies For Babies: My Own Experience

When my daughter was only six months old, she was rushed into hospital suffering from hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar).  The doctors had assumed that this was a short-term effect of vomiting.  However, their alarm increased as over the next few hours, her blood sugar continued to go down her blood gases went out of balance.  What is more, the poor little girl found herself ripped out of the security of home, stuck in the aggressive hospital environment of bright lights and strangers, who then proceeded to stick needles in her over and over again, prick her toes to measure her blood sugar, and hook her up to a very scary IV.  I remember her lying there, all floppy, looking up with big frightened eyes. An alarming and heart-wrenching sight to any mother.

I stayed with her all night, holding her little hand, making comforting noises, and snuggling her teddy against her, feeling utterly helpless and useless.  By the next morning there was no improvement in her condition.  She was clearly distressed and afraid, and despite the IV, things were not normalising.

Now, it just so happened that I was just completing my flower remedies training at the time, and had grabbed my emergency kit as I left the house.  In the midst of the initial panic, I completely forgot that I had this resource with me, but the following day I managed to mobilise my brain into action and started to think about how I could do something for her myself.  There were two aspects to this: firstly, she was currently very shocked and it would be difficult for her body processes to normalise while she was in this state, and secondly, having such a traumatic experience at such a young age might have all sorts of far-reaching implications for her future wellbeing.

Obviously I had not had time to prepare any alcohol-free remedies, and only had the undiluted stock solutions with me.  In this situation, the first priority was to deal with my daughter’s shock and fear.  I started off with Rescue Remedy, and began massaging a drop into her little wrists every fifteen minutes.  She visibly began to calm down at this point.  The next priority was to deal with her fear.  Every few minutes, nurses were coming to test her blood and gave her painful punctures in her toes.  Despite her young age, she was struggling and clinching every time the nurses came near.  To help her with this, I started using Mimulus and Aspen in between the Rescue Remedy – these remedies deal with fears and anxiety.  Again, after a couple of hours, we could all see her stress going down and the fear leaving her little eyes.

Over the next few hours, her blood sugar began to normalise, and the next day she was allowed home.  I had not told the hospital about my use of the flower remedies during this time.  They did, however, comment on the dramatic turnaround in her condition which corresponded to the time I started treating her.  All the remedies I used on her at this time were simply rubbed into her wrists, but the effect on the little girl was dramatic.

Clear Shock & Trauma from Your Child with Flower Remedies

It is a well-known medical fact the impact of shock can be very damaging, and that controlling that impact can be crucial in recovery.  As a parent, you often feel helpless when your child is hurt or injured.  However, there is a really significant thing you can do to help them, and that is to clear away the trauma and shock using flower remedies.  Obviously, you must get them the appropriate medical care first.  Once this is done, you can start the healing.

When a child experiences a shock or trauma, the energy signature of the experience will go into their cellular memory.  What does this mean?  Well, basically, it can lock the body into the experience of that trauma.  Experiences which are traumatic are difficult or even impossible for us to process and deal with – this is why people develop post traumatic stress disorder.  If the trauma is dealt with and cleared, then the longterm effects are minimal.  On the other hand, if you just ignore it, that negative energy signature will sit in your child’s cells undermining their wellbeing.

Fortunately, flower remedies are brilliant at clearing away these energies of shock and trauma. There is a ready-blended flower remedy which is specifically for shock and trauma, and that is Rescue Remedy. If you only have one flower remedy in your cupboard, this is the one to use.  Rescue Remedy contains five individual remedies:  Star of Bethlehem, Impatiens, Cherry Plum, Rock Rose and Clematis, designed to deal with all the emotional aspects of shock and trauma.

If your child experiences a trauma, accident or operation, it is important to start using the remedies as soon as possible.  If you are going to give flower remedies to a baby or young child, make sure that you have removed the alcohol as described in my earlier post.  In the case of a accident, or after an operation, you can take the Rescue Remedy directly from the bottle and simply rub a few drops into the pulse points of your child (under the ear or on the inside of the wrist).  In the early stages, do this every fifteen minutes, and then ease off over the next few hours.

When I have used this remedy with my children, you can feel them relax and almost step back from the acute feelings of what has happened to them within minutes.  Rescue Remedy is available from every pharmacy and health food shop, and is usually available in 10ml drooper bottles, pastilles, and also a spray.

By taking this simple step to deal with the emotional effects of the shock, you can make a significant contribution to your child’s short-term and long-term wellbeing.

I’ll be sharing a story about clearing shock from my baby in a later post.

Is It Safe To Give Flower Remedies To My Baby or Child?

Flower remedies are perfectly safe to give to your baby or child, and they can be extremely beneficial.  In fact, I consider them an invaluable tool in every mother’s cupboard, and I would not be without them myself.  With my own children, I started using the remedies when they were only a few months old.

Flower remedies work to clear the low vibration energies of negative emotions and traumas from our systems.  Very young children and babies are, of course, incapable of explaining or even understanding what they are feeling, so the negative impact of these feelings can have a more damaging effect than they would have on an adult; the remedies can therefore be particularly helpful for children.

Bach Flower Remedies

The most easily obtained and useful flower remedies are the Bach Flower Remedies, and you can get these from any health food shop.  They usually come in 10ml glass bottles with a dropper incorporated into the lid for easy measurement.

Now, flower remedies only contain the energetic signature of the flower, so there is no need for concern that you are giving your child any of the actual plant.  This makes the flower remedies completely unlike herbal medicine, which of course you need to be extremely careful with.  They do come in a brandy preservative though, so you need to remove the alcohol before giving them to your child.  Fortunately, doing this is extremely simple.

Once you have decided which remedy you need to use, add four drops of the remedy to a cup, and then add a little boiling water.  Swill the cup around.  As the remedy is heated, the brandy will begin to evaporate – you’ll be able to smell it.  After 3-4 minutes, practically all the alcohol will have evaporated, and you will be able to use the remedy.  Now, add more water to the remedy to make it up to about 30ml.  The remedy will last up to 4 weeks, but you must keep it in the fridge.

I would recommend giving a young child or baby only one drop of remedy at a time, four times a day.   You can add it to their water or milk.

I’ll be discussing situations and applications where it is really helpful to use flower remedies with your children in future posts.

Flower Remedies: What Are They For and Can I Use Them?

Flower remedies are natural and effective.  They are safe for everyone to use and can greatly increase your well-being and that of your family.  The actual remedy does not contain any significant quantity of the flower itself, as it is the energetic signature of the flower which is used.

Every feeling, emotion and behaviour pattern has an energy signature to it, and these energies sit in our bodies as a specific vibration. Negative emotions have low vibration energies, and these will bring us down and weaken us.  For example, you might be feeling bitter, overwhelmed with responsibility, full of anxiety, controlling, overly perfectionist, afraid or angry.   While the low vibration signature sits in us, we are likely to be locked into that pattern of negative feeling.   Flower remedies contain beautifully high vibrations.  When we introduce a flower vibration into our bodies, it can gently wash away the low vibration, freeing us of that energy signature, and enabling us to get past the negative emotion we are feeling.

The most well-known and easily accessible flower remedies are the Bach Flower remedies which were developed by Dr Edward Bach in the early 20th century.  You can easily look up the remedies on the internet to find out which will help you most.  They can be purchased from any health-food shop.

When you have selected your remedy, you can either take it directly on the tongue, four drops, four times a day, or you can add the drops to water and sip throughout the day. It is impossible to take too much, so if you feel you need more it is safe to have an extra dose.  Flower remedies are not an instant fix, so if you want to get the full benefit you must take your remedy consistently for at least a couple of weeks.

When you buy the remedy it is in a brandy preservative.  If you wish to use the remedy for a child, or someone on medication who cannot have any alcohol, you need to prepare it before use, and I’ll be showing you how to do this in another post.  In the meantime, please get in touch if you have any questions.
